Got a VT pedal today, so far very impressed, I'm gonna have a tinker with it tomorrow. Just playing it for a short time today I found that it can mimic the clean tone of an Ampeg extremely well even when going through my Gk, the tone is very well suited to the 610hlf that I use currently.

I think I might have used an unmarked ac adaptor with it to begin with because it was making some crackly noises, luckily it didn't damage the unit as far as I know, so will have to buy a new dc adaptor for it tomorrow.

Another plus with this pedal is that it seem to naturally compress the signal to an extent, need to try it in a band situation to confirm this.

I took the day off work today to spend some time with the VT, after spending a few hours with it I am still very impressed, I haven't tried getting any grit from it yet but the clean sound is perfect. I was a bit worried at first that it wouldn't mesh well with the Gk but that's definitly not the case, it's hard to put my bass down with this pedal. :)

CONSIDER THIS A WARNING!!!

I just ordered a VT Bass pedal through American Musical Supply online which showed that they had one left in stock and if I was to order it within a certain time today, it would be shipped today. I went ahead and did so and now its backordered!!!! I called them and they said sometimes their inventory is not able to be 100% consistent with the website!!! WHAT A FILTHY TRICK!!! Of course now the website shows backordered until Oct. 15th, which is only two weeks from tomorrow. So I guess its not that long but still..........

I wanted to try one pretty bad but the one I tried was noisy and didn't really do a lot for me. My BassDrive has better (and quieter) drive and if I'm not going to use it for that it's not doing much for me. I'd still consider one of their programmable units for tone shaping, but I'm passing on the VT.

I'm intrigued about this pedal. Would y'all say it's versatile enough to (aside from being a good amp/cab sim) function as a decent simple distortion/fuzz type effect? I don't usually use many effects live--hardly any ever, but I have some shows coming up where there will be an SVT backline on some, but on others I might use NO amp. So, I'd use the VT as an amp sim for the "no amp" gigs, and for the ones with the backline, I could employ it as a distortion box for fun. (I'm honestly not picky about the nuances of bass effects for live, I worry about that in the studio). Can this thing do double duty as I describe?

Well, yesterday I visited every major music store in Manhattan, and of course there is nary a VT Bass to be found.

As usual in this city, you can buy chicken that tastes like an orange at 4AM, but never the thing that you really are looking for during business hours.

Bah. I'll just wait till one of my friends buys one.

ok.... so i got to try out a co-workers VT the other day at band practice.. DAMN!!!!!! i am impressed... if i didnt already have 3 OD pedals on my board i would pick it up... i still might actually.. it cut through a thick double metal guitar and double bass drumming mix with easy... .dare i say better then my creampie or bogdan/polishlove/helterskelter? however...it does color my tone a lot.

Hi: Off

Wow! I tried JimmyM's SVT settings above, and I'm really liking what I'm hearing. I've had the VT for a while, and was starting to dislike it (too harsh, clangy, bad midrange, etc). But after reading Jimmy's posts and working off his settings, I'm starting to really appreciate this thing.

I suggest anyone wanting to baseline your VT Bass to go read all of Jimmy's posts regarding setting it up. I believe he's figured this thing out!

Great piece of equipment. (Got it online at AMS; took almost ten days) I've weeded through the thread and captured the different TB'er settings posted here; here's downloadable PDF with what I've seen so far. Not sure what amp/speakers everyone used. Of course this will make a difference; but the default seems to be LMII w/Avatar 10".

--- I'll update this (can't upload an MS Word.doc) if the "authors" provide more information - eg, active/pass bass; amp; cabinet.

This is a very helpful summary! Thanks for pulling this together!

just curious but how would it sound having this at the start of your effect chain and then going into like a BF-2 flanger or a chorus?

Would it sound cool?

I thought I read somewhere that if you have rack effects this would be the order yeah?

Yeah, modulation/delay/reverb would sound best after the VT. I run compressor and delay after mine.
