Try another boost or overdrive pedal in front of it and you may find that the low end comes through nice and clear without sounding like a wet fart. I expected a hotter signal to make things worse, but it works a treat. Peavey T-40 -> Xotic BB -> VT Bass = Awesome.

It can give you two different tone settings without switching knobs, or it will give you an OD that sounds like power tubes breaking up at a volume that doesn't get you fired. Other than that, nothing.

Here's a clip of my not-so-superb-usage of the Tech 21 VT Bass. The bass is a $100 Monterey P Bass copy. I ran the VT straight to Logic via an M-Audio ProFire 610. I stuck a Waves L-316 on the output to keep levels from freaking.

dude that sounded awesome! love the playing and the telecaster sounds epic. didn't expect that necessarily w/ the vt bass.

nice job recording, too.

I picked one up today. I have a Music Man Sterling and a Markbass amp. Normally I set the Markbass for a scooped sound that gives me a fairly aggressive modern tone. I wanted to see if this pedal could give me a smooth classic 70's sound. Sure enough it does. I set the drive and character control to only about 3 o'clock. The low is just a bit past 12 o'clock. Everything else fairly flat. It sounds nice and smooth, almost like I have flats on my bass. It's nice!!
