Tech-Death Bass Play Through Video - Dingwall D-Bird

Hello All,

The band I'm in recently released our debut album and recorded a bass play along. It's technical death metal - for fans of Artificial Brain, Gorguts, Martyr, Altars, Replicant.

Some notes:
  • The audio is taken from 1 play through, except for last riff which is spliced in from another take.
  • The video is a compilation of 5 takes.
  • Tone is recorded direct through a Darkglass DK7 plug in. I don't love the tone in the video but I wasn't involved in the final mixing or video editing.
  • The strings are relatively new Dingwall Nickels, but I put about 6-8 hours of play time on them before the session to kill some but not all of the new string brightness.
  • This is the first play though I've recorded. Definitely a learning experience recording on camera, was more nervous in the moment than I thought I'd be.
  • I'd give my musical performance a 7/10, there's a couple downbeats that could be stronger and more on the grid, and the last riff isn't perfect even though we sliced in audio from a better take.
  • I can play this song with my fingers but go with a pick for better attack, especially in the heavier and fast parts.
  • Check out the album and let me know if there's another play through you'd like to see. I'm not on the album.
  • The band is based on NYC and is looking for a drummer. You'll find a drum play through on our Youtube channel, James recorded the album but isn't available for live shows. We had a stand in for two live shows but looking to move forward with someone else.
