Recently one of my co-worker's daughters graduated from high school. He let the girl and her friends have a party at their beach house and he bought beer and wine for them. He got them to promise there would be no hard liquor, he kept all their car keys and stayed upstairs at the house to make sure no one drove or got out of control. I thought that was a pretty good way to handle it. They're all but certain to get drunk that night, and he did his best to make sure they did it (relatively) safely.
I can't decide if I would have done that myself if I had kids. I would want them to be safe, but I would still be nervous about liability issues. Anything less controlled than that, I definitely would not do it.
Either you have a very strong constitution or you don't get out much. Hard liquor is taken to excess far more easily than standard brews of grape or barley.Okay, I gotta ask - what's the difference between hard liquor and any other type of alcohol? It will all do the same thing to you given the "right" amount of drinks.

I wish there was an emoticon that could adequately express how I feel about that. But it's beyond current technology. That man is truly dancing with fire. That's 'go-to-prison' level stupidity. Sounds like a good way to handle it? Sure. Until one of the kids needs to be rushed to the hospital and almost dies after being dared to slam a bunch of vodka. Happened here recently. Kid goes to hospital on your watch? You're in Big Trouble. How is it possible for anyone to justify the risk?Recently one of my co-worker's daughters graduated from high school. They're drinking ... Bud light.
