Temple Audio Users - Anyone Heard of Boardmods?

I just came across these 3D printed adhesive-free pedal plates to use with Temple Audio boards. Anyone using anything from Boardmods?

I have a love-hate relationship with my Temple Audio Trio. The plates are sort of expensive and dealing with the adhesive has been a pain when I've wanted to sell pedals, or the rare instances when the adhesive has failed. There's lots of things I like about my Temple Board, so I'm not totally ready to jump ship yet.

I lose some mounting space because of having a Cioks DC10 mounted under the board with the included standoffs and screws. I could get some of that room back and more flexibility with one (or more) of those risers, and if the plates are sturdy enough, do away with the adhesive stuff in favor of these.

Just the back plates are nice for some pedals like BOSS so you can get Velcro type material to work better.

Small Bear Electronics used to carry flat baseplates for Boss pedals, not sure if they still do.

There's lots of things I like about my Temple Board, so I'm not totally ready to jump ship yet.

I stopped using the plates years ago but still love the boards and mods (I have a Solo18, Duo24, and a Duo34). Velcro works, or better yet real 3M heavy duty Dual Lock. I can take a picture to show you my dual lock layout and the bottom of a pedal if it will help. I think Dual Lock is nearly as good as the plates as far the pedals not coming off and feeling rock solid. To get the pedals off I use a plastic taping knife (also called a putty knife or joint knife) found in the paint supply aisle of the hardware store. The plastic is soft enough it does not mar the pedals or the board, I just slide it under and carefully pry until it pops off. To get the Dual Lock off a pedal for sale I just carefully use a needle nose pliers and peel it off. Getting those Temple plates off pedals was a nightmare. I would use a really long utility knife blade to cut the plate off and then many Goo Gone treatments and elbow grease. WTAF.

Can't you mount the Cioks to a bottom bracket? I have 3 bottom brackets on my Duos. Also this is another place Dual Lock will work wonders.

The Ebay Boardmods look cool, I wonder how well they would handle getting stepped on.

Sure, nothing crazy to see. 1" 3M Dual Lock, this is clear in the pictures. You can get it in black which I think would look better if it's exposed but I was impatient when I ordered and the clear was able to come next day (Amazon).

I actually think the 3/4" lengths I put on this pedal is overkill, but a piece in each corner really gives a solid attachment. This is what I am using for the big UAFX pedals:

I never really thought about using a pair of bottom brackets to mount the Cioks. That’s an idea.

I’m not gonna put Velcro or Dual Lock on this board. As someone with a cat, I already have to sweep or vacuum my board every week. Having all that exposed adhesive through the holes is a recipe for disaster. Not trying to turn my board into a shag rug.

Yeah, tidiness was one reason I went from Pedaltrain to Temple Audio. And the more finicky mounting system seriously slowed down my pedal flipping habit. I love having all my jacks mounted to the side panels, the plates themselves are just slightly imperfect. I think I’ll order a couple of the Boardmods pieces to try out.

Yeah there’s lots to love about the Temple boards. I use the IEC connects and the 4x unpowered mods in mine.

I got the IEC connector with the power switch and then two 1/4” pass through jacks instead of buying the official I/O modules. I added a stereo pass through for connecting headphones, too.

I went ahead and ordered 3:

• 1 for my TC Electronics tuner
• 1 for a 125b sized pedal
• 1 for a 1590b

I'm going to give those a try and report back.

It's funny, it had occurred to me a while ago that one could probably 3d print their own plates, but at the time it came to me, Googling didn't bring up anyone who'd tried it, so I'm glad I'm not the only one that decided a different kind of plate setup was worth trying out as opposed to zip ties, Velcro, or Dual Lock - all excellent solutions, but I'm convinced the plate thing can work a little better/more cleanly.

The other thing I'd love to see is some kind of wiring clips that could plug into holes and help organize my cabling.
