terms/expressions for a band calling it quits

We;ve passed on! This band is no more! We have ceased to be! We've expired and gone to meet our maker! It's a stiff! Bereft of life, It rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed it to the perch it'd be pushing up the daisies! its metabolic processes are now 'istory! We;re off the twig!
We've kicked the bucket, We've shuffled off our mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!

THIS IS AN EX-BAND!!

Background: It's been 3 years of several fun gigs with high musicianship, but we lack that key ingredient for this type of band: Nobody has a large network of friends who like to go out to bars and follow the band. I've had that with other groups and miss it.

The personality mix, level of musicianship, songlist, and lead vox have spoiled me. But with the excellent female lead and drummer going, I don't have the energy to rebuild because that won't solve the draw problem.

Do your best to go out on a high note. Our old rock cover band announced our "final gig" and got hundreds of people in that bar that night to wish us farewell. We called up previous members (there were a lot!) to sit in on songs they knew well, which meant their friends came out too. It was an absolute blast.

I was also in a different band that never really drew people. We were each others' closest friends, plus we had a husband and wife in the band with only one set of friends between them. We didn't really drink and neither did our other friends. A good band but doomed from the start to play to sparse crowds. The farewell gig strategy wouldn't have worked in that situation too well!

My old rock band did something like that for our drummers last show. He was the last original member and leaving for NYC. We got to do like 3.5 hours. Played every original and a handful of covers.

To OP's situation though, I've always liked "invited out of the band" as an alternative to firing. "Promoted to audience member" when it came to ending a band or being let go.

If there's a crowd, we can hold 'em...even ones half our age. But getting people there, especially Fridays, has been challenging. We have 4 gigs left and, of course, have never sounded better. Our last one had a decent built-in crowd that did a lot of chair dancing and some actual dancing on the floor.

So yes, we/I look forward to getting some additional good video, enjoying the moment, etc. We have next Friday, then ones in Jan, Feb, and March. It's odd we got to the point where venues were calling us when they had a vacancy. Never had that before.
