For me I had gone down the rabbit hole of bi-amp systems that were almost as large as a FOH system. As I scaled back I also tried using powered PA speakers like you. I found in a pinch they were fine for a quick grab-and-go alternative but less satisfying. The answer for me at the time was using also a powered sub to go with the powered top.
Fortunately those pieces were borrowed so I hadn't invested any money in them. They sounded great! But the portability was lost, the depth was definitely there to be sure but for me after fooling around with that stuff for years I ended up going back to a traditional bass amp similar to yours…
It has depth in a reasonably portable package and I like how it sounds on it own. Plus with bigger venues I’ll still will be going through a FOH system that sounds better than anything more I could bring
