I searched and searched here on TB,but it seems there currently isn`t an "official" TB Fender Musicmaster Bass Guitar Club. I would like to launch one (if there are no objections).
Actually, fellow TBer and Musicmaster owner,Bibbyfirst suggested it in his NB/NAD! [Musicmaster Bass & MM Amp]thread.
Therefore I reserve the #1 spot for Bibby.I`ll glady be #2 (bit of a sheet,y`know).
A club for owners of 1970/71-1981 FENDER (MIA) Musicmaster Bass Guitar(s).I love these lil 30" short scale, sorta wimpy basses! Originally utilizing surplus Fender Mustang Bass bodies, actual 6-pole stratocaster guitar pickups and were wired with an extra "blue"[?] capacitor to help mitigate the higher tones of the strat pickup.I`ve read this 2nd cap was wired in to be always "on".
Neck plate serial #:298236 is matches for a 1970/71,mfg at the Fullerton,CA factory.NOTE: Until such time as I check/match both the neck heel factory date stamp and the pots` serial #/code,I remain unsure of this Musicmaster`s vintage and/or pedigree. Here`s a couple of pics:
