Thankyou Dad!

Well for Christmas i asked my dad for a bass because I didn't have one of my own and the one I always play is his. His bass is an '83 P bass in a pretty rare color so he wouldn't let me take it to college for fear of it getting damaged. I told him too look at the ibanez Sr500 and a few other not so expensive basses.

So yesterday I get a call from him asking if i am coming home soon because he has a present for me. I asked him what it was and he replied "well i will put it this way if you don't want it I do." SO, with that i went home asap (only about an hour drive)

When I got home there was a black fender case waiting for me with a bow on it and much to my surprise it contained a new MIA Fender Deluxe Jazz in Sunburst. I was pretty pumped so far i really really dig it. I will post pics later if anyone is interested.

The Honeymoon has begun!

Pictures... i will get some better ones when i go back home with all of our guitars ('83 P bass, Jazz bass, Sunburst Strat, and a '61 reissue SG)

I wouldn't take that bass to school, you don't want any thing to happen to your first bass or at the very least get some insurance for it. get an SX or a Squire take that to school instead. Congratulations your dad is a good guy.

Still wouldn't take it to college.
Take a Squier.

:D

this is the truth! take a cheapo bass to college. you'll get many years' joy from the Fender, and i have a feeling the 08s will keep their value well.

you don't want it getting covered in beer/vomit/any of the other fluids that fly around at college. or meet that college guy, as i did, who picked up my guitar and said, 'yeah, you gotta treat them like your woman. rough!' and the proceeded to wallop 7 shades of hell out of it. it's never been the same since. and has a few strange stains on it i still can't explain...

congrats on the bass, by the way! yr dad sounds like a champ.
