'That Muse Effect'

As title says, I was just wondering what effect Chris Wolstenholme of Muse uses alot, can best be heard on songs like Hysteria and Time Is Running Out.

I heard he uses the "Search" pedal by MysticBoo Fx, but perhaps somebody else here will have a suggestion.

Chris Uses mostly on those songs and Electro Harmonix Russian Big Muff and an Akai Deep Impact Synth. He also uses an Animato Distortion, but i dont think this is that nessicary, but if u must use it a much more open available item is the Boss Turbo Distortion which it what Chris used before the Animato.

Other Effects he has are:

Boss DD-3
Boss OC-2
Line 6 FM4

and many others

Anyhow... he's kidding. What he meant to say was, use the "search" function here. Look for "Muse bassist" or "Chris Wolstenholme". You'll find plenty of answers to your questions.

Saw them last week in Manchester. Whatever he uses it sounds just as awesome live, although I don't think he used any onstage amplification. He even played 6 string on Hoodoo while someone else played bass up the back in the dark!

i believe he sometimes uses two big muffs simultaniously with some clean signal mixed in.
