That new bass case smell

First I searched, and there were only two threads discussing new bass case smell in the context of it being a problem.

I LOVE new bass case smell. Rickenbacker cases smell like vanilla, but not quite as sweet and my new G & G case that came with a new G & L has that same wonderful aroma.

It's intoxicating. Someone told me it was the glue. Hmmmm. Anybody know what kind of glue is used?

Last year, I bought a Gibson Flying V. The case also smells like vanilla.

I could bury my face in my Carvin case all day!!! I absolutely LOVE the way it makes the bass smell!

Now that you mention the Rick vanilla link - maybe that's what I'm smelling. Vanilla!!

Most likely the smell are the fumes from adhesives, so have a nice trip. I don't remember much of a smell from the case that came with my Jazz bass.

Ive never forgotten the smell of the case of my first bass, a brand new Peavey T-40 bought in 1980. I still cant believe I talked my dad into blowing $300 (approximately, I dont remember exactly) on it.

That "smell" is probably some cancer causing chemical ...

I remember years ago buying used Ricks off of ebay and the case would smell like an ash tray.

I loved the case that came with my first Fender P5. It smelled nice...

...but not like the vanilla & berries stuff you people are saying. Mine smelled closer to a new car.

Mine (4003) didn't smell like much of anything.
It does smell like coconut now, since I polish the bass with Zymol!

One of my old cases reeked of cigarette smoke. I could store my basses in it because when I took them out they would smell, and it would last for days. I also couldn't keep the case in my room because my room would end up smelling of smoke. I bought the case for like twenty bucks. I finally pulled off the hardware and chunked it.

My Gibson V 2011 still smells like that vanilla cupcake. the scent of the case is even stronger. Freaking love it!

I've noticed that MusicMan cases (or basses?) have a pretty distinct, pleasing scent.
