When my house burned down I replaced some things and my two basses made it out, but I have purposely tried to make it a positive. I had an immediate and unusual way of downsizing my life. I'm proud to say I definitely have under a hundred significant possessions now (we aren't counting socks or dishes are we? [although I have a minimal amount of clothing and cookware as well]). It's the biggest upside to a house fire I've found so far. I think way longer on purchases these days.
