"Love those beautiful black bases"
Wow, I've always liked the Variax model. How is it??.
Here's a pic of my Variax 5 string bass. May I have a club membership number, please?
The Carvin SB5000 is like a 5 string version of my American Geddy Lee. I favor 70’s Jazz basses and these 2 are the best I’ve encountered. Alder/ maple with 70’s pickup placement is my sound."Love those beautiful black bases"
Sire- Fender Jazz shootout?

The Sire is also a beast of a bass. The mahogany / rosewood combo I liked over alder /maple V7 Vintage I owned. The Sire preamp is so aggressive . When you want to be very present in the mix, this is the bass to grab for those more modern tones. It sounds great downtuned.
The Pbass with flats speaks for itself.![]()
Nice line up. The Sires are great. Very aggressive preamp. I do t get along with the weight and neck profiles on some of them . But they are a well put together bass with a lot to offer for the money.Early '70's Maple square Pearloid Jazz is on my bucket list. Used to have one. sigh.
These days in the "show band" I like the EBMM SR5 HP. Lotsa flexibility.
"Best bass for metal" rock is my EMG equipped Modulus Quantum5.
Like a Mayan human sacrifice. Ken Smith CR5M for the modern/ slap.
Do like the Sire Marcus Miller models.
