I love Acoustic ACC stuff. I've only had my one ACC amp. I did have another ratted out 301 cab 25 years ago or so. Long gone. The CV speaker had a rotted out foam surround. I "fixed" it with Handiwipes and rubber cement. It worked great!. I did tell the next owner though. I'll bet it's still working.
This is my current CV speaker from my '73 cab. I've had it since then. "Lifetime Warranty" ! It still looks new!

Dear Acoustic aficionados,

my beloved "Model 301 Transducer" started to make some farting/rattling noises on certain frequencies, so I wanted to have a look inside to maybe find out what the problem might be.
But there are no screws on the back. Does this mean, I have to get into it from the front? I didn't see anything on the grill cloth inviting me to pull on it. Just use a screwdriver or something and "pop" it out?

And once I'll have it open, anything special to look at or check?

I'm sorry for the noob questions. I've never checked any cab for anything, just plugged them in.
But I sure do looooove that 301 and I want to make it function properly again.
Might as well make it (a bit) prettier, while I'm at it.

My 301 cab grills just pop out with a little nudge from a bladed screwdriver. I know our cabs a different. It wouldn't hurt to carefully try.
There is no other way since the back doesn't come off. My cab has stiff hook and loop like fasteners.

Yes the front middle panel comes off on yours, remove the grills to find the hidden screws.

The bottom grill has some wire clips att the bottom that can be troublesome. Other than those the grills are held in place with old school hook and loop.

The speaker is fastened with clamps that may have come loose (they were loose on mine when I bought it).

Having limited access to the cab, it took me a while, but I managed to remove the grill and then also removed the 10 screws on the middle panel. Thanks.
But even without the screws, the panel doesn't move at all, it still seems to be fixed. So, here I am again, not wanting to force anything ...
Any more hidden screws somewhere?

It's weather sealed . A rubber mallet to the edge should loosen it.

Youve got all the screws, its just the seal thats holding (sticking) it in place. As Tim said, time for a little persuasion.

The round hook and lock pads are not stock, maybe they were installed with 1" long screws (take them out just to be on the safe side).

I checked the round hook screws, they are too short to matter.

So, with that little persuasion proposed, I got it open.

The clamps where super tight, but the black cone is cracked on about half of the speakers diameter. Mostly it's just a crack that shows when gently touching the cone, but on the bottom it's more prominent and a bit of the material itself seems to be missing. I guess that's the problem and I also guess that the speaker, it's the Cerwin Vega 187, needs to be either repaired or replaced.

Now, I don't feel confident enough to try to repair it myself. I might ask my amp tech if he's up to it. Is it even worth trying to repair it?

And as for replacing it: what speaker would work in there?
Funny enough, a Goodmans Audiom 91 (8 ohm) in good shape just popped up locally, but apart from being an "old 18" speaker" I don't know how it might behave in the 301 enclosure.
Any modern drivers that can be recommended?
Bonus points, if the speaker could handle the Meatbox sub frequencies.
I have been using a Sunn 200s with the cab, so power rating isn't really a concern.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I love the folded horn sound of the 301 and would like to get it back into my bass life.

I'd get it re-coned. Reach out to your local hifi community- chances are they'll know someone. If not, feel free to DM me, we have a local
guy who is a magician - wouldn't be your cheapest or fastest option.

And thanks for the DM offer, but getting it to Canada and back to Switzerland seems to be a bit crazy, even for me.

Very nice! Ive got the same amp and I'm digging it from what little I've gotten to play it this last year. It has some good tones and gets loud enough for a rock drummer, at least in our little rehearsal room
