I remember during the 80s I lived on the third floor of an old apartment building with high ceilings. Two flights of stairs per floor. Every job the big W bin went up and down the stairs. 3:00 AM and there I am - one step at a time "bump, bump, bump".

I sustained myself thinking that the Egyptians built pyramids by slowly moving those huge blocks of stones - so my job was easy Life of a bass player back then. Nobody was using the shrimpy 4x10s then

I have taken my model 361pp and model 406 2x15 cabinets up many set of stairs...The 361pp weighs in at about 150 lbs and the 2 406s I have are loaded with JBLs they weigh in at around 130 lbs each..They all are built as a tilt back cabinet,so it is like using a dolly with my cabinets...It is easier with 2 people.. A great design Acoustic Control Corp came up with years ago for bass cabinets..

Get the pop-out casters, the receptacles are already built-in to the cabs.

The B200H is a nice head. I use it for backup and smaller gigs now but when I first got it I was and still am amazed at what it can do.

i'm planning to pick up a 320 head with some cab i could't recognize (but looks like an acoustic about the same age too) later this afternoon, but i could not seem to find a scan of the user manual that should have came with it.

this amp seems to be a real jewel, here in argentina this kind of gear is either too hard to come by or too expensive to even think about it. or both. 600 u$s for that is a complete steal!

EDIT: d@mn! it was a 330 (guitar) head, and the cab says to be a 403, only that it has a single 15'' and no grill, so i'm suspecting that the first owner put his dirty claws on it. Nevertheless, Jaco himself was seen using a 403 so I pick it up anyways

Yea the ernie ball casters I got had a slightly larger shaft, I just used a 1/2 drill bit and shaved out a little bit of the pre existing hole that was in my cab. The 4 screw holes on the caster line up perfectly on the cab and they come with a slightly larger screws, which i think is nice. The casters I got do not retract or come off, but that was my goal! All in all im loving having casters on this cab!!!

Jaco used 2 model 361 bass amps,but there was a time around 79-81 he was also using the 2 361s and he also used 2 330 heads with 2 408 cabinets. He used these 4 Acoustic amps with Weather Report and Joni Mitchell. Here is a link to him playing with Joni Mitchell on her Shadows and Light tour in 79..Invalid Link Removed

I uploaded a pic:

the metal thingy with the name clearly states 403. I've spent quite some time in the acoustic wiki @ homeunix and thats how I believe now this cab is not how it was born, but was modified
As you can see, the original grid/fabric that covers the whole thing is missing and a plastic kind-of-rubber round grid was used to cover the cone. Oh, and dont forget the 15'' in it.
Anyways, its rock solid so I might keep it for a significant part of my lifetime
If in the future I decide I need more thump should I replace that 15'' with an 18''er?

It for sure looks like someone modified your cabinet from it original design. Acoustic has not ever used the metal grills,like you have on your cabinet. It sound like by what you are saying it is a good bass cabinet.
What kind of speaker is in it now? If it does not have a premium speaker in it now, you might want to upgrade later.Eminence is a great choice and is being used as OEM in a lot of manufacturer's cabinets these days. If you were to go up to an 18" speaker you would have to re-do the speaker baffle in your cabinet to make it fit. You might get a better 'thump' out of it,but you might have problems with the cabinet not sounding right.Your Acoustic name plate says it is a model 403,which as you saw on the Acoustic wiki is a 4x12 sealed cabinet made for guitar or keyboards. I'm not saying anything bad about doing what you are talking about later,but it might be a hit or miss situation with it. The Acoustic guitar amps make cool bass amps,too,( I have a 260 and a 270 in my collection).

I spent some more time with the thing as it is and decided I like it. all those reviews claiming that it is louder than jumbo plane were... well, I think it's actually louder
and minimum distortion, wich i'm confident a little work will reduce it a great deal. too bad the reverb doesn't appear to be working.
