Actually, this makes perfect sense. The internal speakers in the B-450 combo are wired @ 4ohms which means the amp is putting out 450watts. When you add an ADDITIONAL 4ohm load that drops the "ohmage" to 2. Therefore putting out the 600watts.

Just got the acoustic 136 combo on craigslist for a steal of $80 from a really nice guy that said he bought it for $80 and wanted to sell it for the same because it was the right thing ( probably a first on craigslist). the 136 ( which appears to be actually a 140 head) is really cool cause the amp and cab can used completely separate so the 220 head can be used with the 15" cab and goes really good with it.

It removes the ground on your XLR out cable... used to eliminate hum if the different parts of your equipment happen to be on different grounds.
Ground lift switch: Professional audio equipment intended for use with balanced lines may have a ground lift switch for the cable shield. The ground lift switch eliminates unwanted hum and buzz by interrupting the ground loops between equipment, preventing the flow of current along the cable shield between two devices. The switch disconnects pin 1 on the XLR jack, which is connected to the braid or foil shield in the cable and acts as the ground point of the circuit.
Ground lifts do not conform to Audio Engineering Society standard AES48.
Just to confirm, the 130 series (134, 135, 136, 137) are all based on the 140/150 series amps which in turn were based on the 150/150B line from the previous generation.
