The All New Julie Slick thread

Of course of course! I should definitely have it up by the end of the month (hopefully next week). If you guys have any package suggestions...

You mean suggestions for reward packages, right? -- like "Pledge X dollars and get a copy of the CD" or "Pledge X dollars and get a batch of homemade cookies"?

How about "Pledge X dollars and you too will be able to play and sound like Julie Slick?" (If you can make that one work, just name your price and I'm in.)

Seriously, I think it's a great idea to solicit suggestions, and I'll give it some thought....

OK, to be serious for a moment....

Being the curious sort, I just spent a little time browsing the music section at kickstarter and looking at the kinds of rewards packages that have been used in successful album-funding efforts. In addition to the usual rewards of downloads, autographed CDs, thank-you's in liner notes, etc., most of them (for higher donations) include various kinds of meet-the-artist opportunities, ranging from going jogging together to studio tours to personalized house concerts. These all seem like cool ideas, but obviously pose potential ("creepiness") problems for solo female artists. So, I focused my browsing on solo album projects by women, and found lots of creative solutions such as thank-you phone calls, having tea or a drink over Skype, and so forth. Some offered one or another kind of real face-to-face -- meeting for a drink, house concert, etc. -- but "only if I know you or know someone who knows you."

Other ideas, anyone?

Well eric could always join for dinner...

That's a great idea. "And if you act now, we'll throw in a drummer brother for no extra charge...."

What's the story behind this "Bahner/Slick Duo" gig Saturday? It's just drums and bass, right? You gonna be doing some Belew-style looping maybe? (BTW, is the link to the venue for this show wrong on your website?)

So, anyone out there in the eastern-Pennsylvania area who can make it to the drums-and-bass duo show in Phoenixville this Saturday? (If I didn't have so much else to do this weekend I would drive up from southeast Virginia for it!)

Here's a link for info about it:

Bahner/Slick Duo Playing The Lighthouse Lounge This Saturday

Julie, you're gonna make sure there's a recording that us out-of-towners will get to hear at some point, right?? :help:

It was indeed video'ed, so hopefully i'll get that footage to put up on ze interweb soon. it was a lot of fun - my biggest set up ever. bass>keeley>mammoth>pitchfactor>gk. i also had the vb-99 going into a guitar amp, providing extra texture and harmony. we did a rubber shirt type arrangement of "money" into "indiscipline"... worked rather well, actually.

new to the T-B forum....first post.....figured best place to start. After a 20 yr somewhat hiatus from gigging and playing (stopped to raise a family) Julie Slick has been the biggest recent influence in picking the bass back up with intent. I still would pick it up from time to time, but not with any real conviction. A friend sent me a link to a Y-T clip of the Rockplast show and well....that was it...completely amazed with her playing, sound, etc.

So..thank you Julie for giving me the spark to fall in love with the bass all over again.

cheers
