The Atelier Z Bass Owners Club

Just got this in the mail yesterday from Ikebe Gakki, a Beta 6/32" ^_^

Mine is the actual one from the pictures on the site here:

that is great! How do you plan to tune it? I've been thinking of getting one of these to tune in unison with an 8-string guitar. I assume the short scale would work for that.

I'll probably keep it in standard and just string it up with a slightly bigger low B. It still sounds great in standard, but I'm pretty sure this is a .125 on here. It'd probably be ideal for what you're thinking of, too!

Also, one of the cool things I'd noticed that they've started doing is putting the KTS titanium rods in these! I guess they've been doing it in the standard Beta 4 and 5 models, but I was wondering if they did it on these and it seems they do now.

I've got the red one from the first run of these. Only difference between the two is the Pre-amp. (I think your's has an Atelier Z pre whereas mine has an Aguilar with a mid select switch.)
It was my first 6 and my first "32. If yours is anything like mine, it's a great bass.

(Not my pic but it IS my bass)

Yup! Mine has the Atelier Pre and there's a sticker on the back about the KTS Rods and stuff that i havent seen on the older ones, but thats about it.

And yes, it's fantastic so far. I had to tweak the action and the truss rod after it came from Japan to Seattle, and after that, it's been Stellar! It plays as good as my Yamaha TRB6 that's been my main bass for the past 6 years, and it also sounds completely different so thats a nice bonus. Now I just got to break it in :)

Although they don't seem as popular as some of the other boutique bass brands on TB, I hope that there are other Atleier Z bass admirers and owners in the TB community. If so, here's an opportunity to organize our basses in one thread and (hopefully) increase their overall presence on the forum.

That said, I would like to launch the Atelier Z Bass Owners Club!

If agreeable to all, I will also serve as Founder and Member#1

Please post your pics and/or stats, if you have one (or more) in your collection.

To kick things off, here are a few pics of my most recent purchase:

The chambering on the DAL series. Alder body and ash top. Weight of mine is only 3.9kg

Looks great. Pretty sure you’ll love it. I only have a relatively ‘cheap’ Atelier Z model but the tone and build quality is crazy. Make sure you experiment with the preamp, it took me a minute to get my head around it. It’s no different in use to any other pre, but there’s a lot of tonal versatility in there. It will give you the modern J sound no problem, but it will do the vintage thing just as well. Those preamps are voiced really well for recording, especially in a contemporary context.
