The Awesome Show Off Your Amp Thread!!

I used Sears BXL amplifiers until I switched to Univox. I thought I had sold them all and then I found these hiding in a corner of my warehouse. I have never known for absolute certain who made them.

Not a very big collection, but it'll do some damage:

My small rig, a 64 B-15N with a Vintage Blue repro double baffle cab:

My medium rig, which uses the smaller rig. Fliptops repro cab on bottom, but I didn't have the VB cab at the time so this is the original cab restored by Jess Oliver. I leave the original cab at home these days:

My big rig, a 69 SVT and a 73 810. Please pardon the grillcloth...I'm getting legit Ampeg cloth soon:

I don't have the Markbass combo anymore, but I still have the stack on the left, a 73 Fender Super Reverb that was blackfaced, and a 89 or 90 Tube Works 410T I bought from Dave LaRue:

A 61 Airline 15w guitar amp made by Danelectro:

And:

What about your micro VR?

Here is a new head I recently aquired ...

1973 Marshall Super Bass 100

I'm not much on the old Marshall bass cabs though, so we are gonna build a one of a kind "retro" cab the size of a standard
4x12 half stack but loaded with some B&C drivers I had laying arond the warehouse ... it will have 12s and a 6.5 midrange,

photos as we get a little more into the project.

...

GAS!!!

Here is a photo of my rig (Minus my Pedulla Thunderbass) Mesa M9 Carbine / Genz Benz Uber 410 Cabinet.

Regrettably I have the Stambaugh in the photo up for sale to help me get caught up on some bills. I absolutely love the bass - It plays like a dream and has a great sound / tone. :bassist:
Sometimes you have to make tough decisions to part with things that you love in order to help out your financial situation - as is the case here. :crying:

Here's my current rig, that I used to record Exciter's latest CD: Death Machine. on the left is my 1974 Marshall Super Bass into my early 80s Marshall JCM800 Bass Series 2x15 cab (model 1551). On the right is my 1973 Super Bass into my early 80s JCM800 Bass Series 4x12 cab (model 1520). I ran my bass into the low Channel 2 input on the 73 head, than daisy chained it from the high Channel 2input to the low Channel 2 input on the '74 head.

In this picture is my custom Moser Custom Shop Arachnid Ultra bass.

You can hear the setup (with the bass' booster on full) here:

Cheers!

What is the bass in the first pic? Looks really awesome.

Thanks. It's an Aria Pro II Thor-Sound Bass, made in Japan on 1980-1982, it's an awesome bass, got it for $140 from an old man living on my street. It has the deepest bass sound i've ever heard on any bass guitar. It has 2.0" of nut width.

It also matched my dog's color.

I see you are on Fender Jazz bass club, pretty nice. I'm selling my Acoustic 220 so i can finally afford a Jazz Bass MIM :D. I love my Aria, but i'd like to have a different sound.

Yep, it's nice to have different tonal options. Although I must say with my Yamaha BB1024X, I don't play my jazz as much anymore. I'll be on the lookout for that Aria on Ebay, really like the looks of it.

If you need coffee to stay awake when you're practicing, you're not playing loud enough. :bassist:

That's a good looking rig! You should post some recordings that you've made with the Tascam interface. ;)

It's not for staying awake! It's for getting amped!!!!

I soon will! I can post reviews of pedals in a band setting. It will be my songs and playing, so you'll have to look past those monstrosities.

IS that... can't be... 2x18"? Or is it a 2x15"?

Looks impressive, however you look at it.:bassist:

Thanks,....it's a tolex era (70's/80's) Kustom 2-15 B (2x15). I have yet to put it through it's paces (I can't wait to hit it with some OC-2 and some Fuzz). But Clean,...I'm loving. Running the poweramp in stereo I'm pushing about 390 watts to each cab (both 4ohms) for a net of 780 watts. Yes my band IS that loud.

My first ever bass amp was a Kustom Lead I combo amp (bought it off an old sailor in the 90's for $25). That thing was bullet proof and saw me through a lot of practice time both on bass and guitar.

I'm thinking about replacing the Metal Grill on the Avatar with their Grill Cloth and White piping. Gotta contact Dave and see if they would be willing to sell me a retrofit.

Is it safe to have the amp oriented on it's side like that? The SKB is deforming a little bit but I've been wanting to replace that rack for a smaller yet sturdier rack for a while now. It's not the weight so much as the size of the rack,...makes it awkward to maneuver. I'm more concerned with ruining the gear inside though. It's all SS FWIW.

Aesthetically this orientation is more pleasing but if it's going to cause issues,....I'll put the rack on top of the 4x10.

I'm also really diggin on Strke-Fenders Mesa Rig. I love those 400+'s.

I've been thinking about building an all tube amp that will handle a 2ohm load.
