No bottom, uh not quite, both my P-basses have TONs more bottom than most anything else I have ever played, this inclueds, Ricks, Jazzs, Ibanez, and Peaveys- WAY More i tell you!

You people are trying to push an argument out against someone who can't even defend the argument.
With all due respect for the dearly departed Ox, that's not how passive electronics works. The tone control on a P bass only affects the high frequencies and it can only cut them. Turning the treble up does not cut the bass.

exactly. the tone knob takes away treble/ mids. it cannot add anything. low end content stays the same.
I don't understand some of the "you don't turn the tone up on a pbass. SACRILEGE!" I find when I want more growl and edge, opening up the tone achieves that perfectly. That's like saying that you can't turn the tone all the way down on a jazz.
I can't believe this has been going on for 5 pages now.. lol.
