just wondering but why are you guys buying this instead of learning to mute the strings with your fingers palm etc im not hating on the product it sounds like a very cool idea and i would buy one myself other then the reasons that its doing your job for you so you get used to using it not your fingers and whenever you go to play a different bass you wont have the bassmute and so all the strings will be ringing over each other and you start becoming dependent on this bass mute so for a sum up of my question.. why would you guys rather buy this to do your job for you?
I agree with Jimmy - why do the Bassmute and palm muting technique have to be mutually exclusive? Just because someone develops a product for one purpose doesn't mean it is a replacement for technique. When Leo Fender put foam mutes on his Precision and Jazz bass designs, was he trying to make it easier to play for bassists with bad technique?
Seriously guys - do both when both are appropriate. If I want to palm mute, I do so. If I want tone more akin to the classic Motown/James Jamerson sound we all pine for, then I'll go with a Bassmute. Maybe I'll palm mute while using the Bassmute and everyone on TB's head will explode!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chico - I've been chasing this for a few years, and while you are correct that they are always out of stock, I've yet to find another product that I like as much for this purpose. That and I'm hoping to drum up a bit of support here on TB - maybe that'll encourage them knowing they have a few sales on the horizon.
Either way - I can wait. I'm in no hurry. I'll try reaching out to Edwin again in the next few days and see what we can see.
