And it is a BEAST. I must say, this was worth the -who knows how long- wait. Everything just screams awesome and powerful.

The new silk screening feels like an industrial boutique pedal like Subdecay or the likes. The paint. Everything is pretty awesome. I must give it to Mark in skipping up his game on the enclosures. I can forgive his communication with customers now... He's gotten better with that though.

The sound of the pedal is awesome. I could only try it out at work since I have all my things packed up. When people come running over to see what the hell is making that noise, it always puts a smile on my face.

It's not a traditional fuzz at all. When you do not play, the oscillation is very powerful. The thing you must remember about this is that it's meant for your notes to sustain and then decay into the oscillating goodness. So when you're playing and you mute everything, you will get that "Did I just break my amp?" sound but the beauty is when you like an open E or A string just ring out into oscillating glory.

I love the combination of using Choke and Roar. Roar is just a oscillating loop that interacts with your instrument's volume and controls on the BEAST. Choke is pretty much the same animal but with control. When you use both of them, ohhh yesss...

Also you can use your volume knob to interact with the oscillation. It's extra sensitive when connected directly to passive pickups without a buffer in between, where the volume knob also has more of an effect on the pitch of the oscillation.

Another cool thing to try is engage all the switches and put a tuner afterwards to allow you to tune the oscillator to a defined pitch. That way you can use it much more musically by bringing in the note by muting the strings.

Also, with Roar on and Choke off, play an open string then stop it by placing your forefinger on the string to create a harmonic. You don't have to do this in the usual natural harmonic locations, just do it by the pickups where your hand rests naturally, a few mm difference can make big differences. Even though these harmonics are weak, the high gain of the pedal in Roar mode makes them ring loud and clear, and their short sustain means you don't have to wait long for it to fade into beautiful chaos!

Oh, and a cool way to speed up the decay of a note into oscillation is to put your finger on the bridge saddle and move it slowly upwards. You can do this just before you strike each note, doing mute/slide/pluck in one smooth motion.

And experiment with a blender. The pedal has lots of low end with the depth turned down but it sounds less defined and is prone to being overloaded by hot signals that way. A blender can give you a much more cutting sound since you can raise the depth control without sacrificing lows.

If you have a 442 filter / Boomstick Bottom Feeder, try running the beast into it! :D

I just happened to google Earthbound Audio and see what was goin on. And its said beast is here on their blogspot. Good thing I have some cash, because I just ordered one. So in a month or so I get to play with it :)
I'll also have a real rig then not a combo amp!! It will be freakin awesome. My bandmates are in for some devestating dooooom

So, the common procedure for ordering something from Earthbound Audio is you send payment and then wait a week or longer for any sort of acknowledgement, correct? Just want to make sure everything is SNAFU with my impulse Beast purchase last week.

yeah should be,... I didn't get any acknowledgement from mark and got a bit worried when nothing had happened after 3 weeks, he sent a reply when I pm'd him via myspace and said should be out shortly and fair enough was out to me within a week... I prefer ordering through people like tonefactor etc who are always on top of my order with about 3 emails if anything goes slightly wrong lol, but all is well and I'm more than happy with the supercollider :D

I haven't recieved any emails yet. I'll email today to see whats up. The only notifacation I recieved was from paypal saying that they accepted my money. haha. I can't wait to get this thing. :bassist::bassist:
