How about some pics of your wood carvings? Something to hold us over til you finish this.

So the dragons would be 3d? because if so, the one on the body might get in the way of your right arm/wrist.

If you can actually do this, then I'm sure that it would be look fantastic, however you want it to play just as well. We do too.

Here is a Cobra Staff i carved several years ago... actually the first thing I ever carved.

Here is a computer case that I carved last year.. and the dragon will not be a very deep relief so it will still be under the level of the bloodwood.

It seems like some had a question on how the body was going to be done so I did a quick, rough cross section to show where the woods will go and how they will all fit together. Please excuse the artwork, done quickly and not for accuracy or artistic aspect.

Well, I finally took the plunge and made the first cuts. I got the neck laminates cut and started the gluing process. So here is a pic of the neck drying....Maple/Bloodwood/Cocobolo;/Maple/Cocobolo/Bloodwood/Maple

Ok, finished sanding and trimming the neck after the glue dried. Here is the pics of the neck waiting for the body halves to join it. It is sitting on a piece of walnut so it might look a little strange. The woods in the neck are maple/bloodwood/cocobolo/maple/cocobolo/bloodwood/maple. Hope that helps see the neck better.

Well, change of plans...Bloodwood doesn't want to agree with my bandsaw atm. SO, I have decided to go for a more simple plan for my first build and put the dragon idea on ice for the moment. New plans call for same hardware and neck but with a quilted maple top and back with an ebony laminate. No inserts or dragons on this build. Sorry, but this is going to be just a simple build at this time.

Well, looks like things have changed back for the better. Bandsaw is now broken so I resawed the Bloodwood by hand. Difficult process but it worked. I am now back to walnut body with bloodwood top. I have the wings rough cut with the neck and fingerboard still to be shaped. Here are a few pics of where I am now. I think the bloodwood is going to look nice.

Ok, wings glued on and truss rod slot cut. Suggestions on neck. looks like it is currently going to show the maple for the first quarter and then the bloodwood for the rest of it. Not sure if that is a good idea. Open to ideas or suggestions on what might work best. Have been thinking of using veneer down the rest of the neck to make a continuous maple appearance. Looks like my first problem has arisen.
