The Behringer BX4500H and you... your thoughts

That's a combo though - the head's got nothing to do with the combo weighing a ton - I just own the head. Who would buy a 135lb combo in the first place?

Beware! I'd say most of the posters here voicing a derogatory opinion on Behringer Bass Amps have indeed played a number of Behringer amps! They are available at many music stores and let me tell you, compared to Fender, MarkBass, Ampeg and GK, they are very noticeably inferior in tone and volume output. Behringer's quality control, on their amps, is bad.

Read the posts on other forums and the input from owners, or those who competently know how to test out an amp, are very consistent............ namely, don't buy one.

Is that a common term? Cos one of my basses is called Bezza :(

Anyway the MAG range suck, you just pay a little less for stuff that sucks from Behringer, it's their only positive quality.

I've always found Behringer to be a good value. I don't own one of their amps but of the other gear I have it's quality, quiet, and dependable. It doesn't matter how much bashing goes on, they seem to be doing fine in the market. And nobodies posted pictures of the Raiders of the lost Arc warehouse full of broken ones.

Sea, I'm not one who goes by amp name plates, only by the sound, and then the dependability. The only Rogue amps I've seen are the very small starter amps. I haven't bought a Acoustic anything yet, may pick-up a B200H head and two Acoustic 115H cabs someday soon. (I'm kinda waiting to see what's next from G.C. Acoustic....maybe a 400 watt head????)


Don't know how the Acoustics will perform out in the real world but, in the G.C. showroom floor I was surprised by the 200 head and 410H and 115H cabs. The stack sounded "very" good IMO. The price was shocking too.
The group I'm with uses a Behringer mixer that we leave parked at our basement rehearsal space, small problems with it. I've tried several Behringer bass amps in the stores over the years, wasn't my tone and the ones I played seemed underpowered for their rated power, same as I felt about SWR's power.

I've got one of the 3000 series. No it isn't an Ampeg but neither does it have the price tag of a ChinaPeg. Beheringer produces huge quantities of their products (in China also) thus keeping the price down. For a solid state amp it does the job. About everything is made in China now anyway.

I own a British made MAG and it sounds fine, not the most versatile amp, with the EQ but the general sound fits. At least I'm happy with it, but I play a BTB so I'm not limited to much with all the tonal options my bass has.

Hell I got the Cliff Burton tone out of it:D

Please, don't ditch a brand completely just because you tried one of their products and didn't like it (which is pretty subjective by the way).

Their mixers are actually OK.
Some of the rack effects are really fine
I have heard many good things about their previous autocom and current composer series compressors
I have heard mixed reviews of their cabs

Fair enough, all the MAG stuff I tired has been awful, maybe I haven't come across a Brit made on. I do love the EVOs though, really nice warm sound to them, despite them been SS. If I ever needed a more laid back amp I'd be all over one.

I owned one for a year or two and could get any tone I wanted from it. It was fine.

It's easier to get a great sound quickly from some other gear I've tried, but I could always match other SS amp's tones without too much work while I was testing the behringer against a few competitors before buying it. So I can only praise the product. For reliability, apparently this brand has some good models and some bad models, and these bass heads fall into the good model category. But mine worked fine and kept working. I upgraded when a second hand 1992 SWR head I'd been searching for appeared on ebay, but for the money, the behringer served me reall well and I'd recommend it.

I've owned one of their 210 cabs too, and my only gripe with it is its weight.

You know, I used to have a little 30 watt 10" behringer combo...and the thing rocked! I used it for a couple of pit-band gigs, to accompany acoustics...really, when you use them for what they are for, it was a heck of a value! Now, does that mean their "450" watt head and 4x10 would sound good to me at an important gig...probably not. But there is nothing inherintly wrong with behringer. I actually tracked through the little amp too, great tone at low volumes.

There is no Behringer and me. There is only Behringer and there is me. I don't bother Behringer stuff, it doesn't bother me. But lest you think I'm a logo snob, my amps are either vintage Ampeg or new Markbass because they sound great and work well.

I played a benefit with two other bands Wed night. I was getting ready to roll my rig (GK 1001RBII and Ampeg 115e) in when the opening band's bass player pulled up. He suggested since they were going on first that we share the backline. I agreed, but started having reservations when he unloaded a Behringer 4500 and Legion Sound 4x10.

I should have listened to my inner voice. He was a good player, but the amp was worse than I could have imagined. Didn't cut through the mix and was all mushy lows.

I set everything flat, cut the ultra bass settings - couldn't dial in a usable tone at all.

I'm not a gear snob at all, but I'll NEVER use a Beheringer again if I can help it.
