The best 34" 5-string bass?

I see tons of used sadowsky M5-24s go for under 2k. Not hard to find at all. I got mine for 1400. IMO the best bass for the money and it is 34"
Really nails the modern sound but can go to passive old skool at the drop of a hat. Very versitile.

The only 5-strings I like are 35" ......... And that's the reason I stay with my 4-strings with D-tuners. ..... Personally I haven't found a 34" 5-string that the B-string doesn't have that different (softer) feel from the other strings. ..... I'm looking forward to the rest of the posts.

StingRay 5 HH, or even the Bongo. Heck even the G&L L2500.
Tone to the bone on the B string. To me the action of the B stayed consistant as the other 4, articulate, and spoke just as clear or growly as the other 4 strings.

You can get phenomenal B strings in 34" scale, but it ain't cheap. I'll hold my CB and my friend's Curbows to ANY 5 string without hesitation.

Its out of your price range, though. Hopefully they come down because I want that bass so hard.
Otherwise yeah, the SB5000 seems like a shoe in. I mean, fairly custom hand build for less than $1500 sounds good to me.

What are you saying? ...... Your Curbows are 34"? ..... Are they 35"? You don't make that clear. ..... And what's a CD? ..... And what string length is that bass? ...... If it is a bass. .....

Ebmm stingray 5. G&l 2500. Lakland 5502 or Joe Osborn skyline. Hell for that matter the g&l tributes I played had great b's. Check out the bass whisperer on YouTube. Ed does a bang up job in his demos
Without trying to sound arrogant, these threads almost always feature the usual suspects, but IMHO, when you haven't played a few extremely top notch basses, you really don't know what you're missing.
My friend's Curbows (US versions) are all 34" scale. CB stands for Cliff Bordwell, also 34" scale, although I just happen to have a 35" scale 4 (EADG). I don't mean to sound cocky, but these basses will blow the doors off of anything stock. Then again, that's how they stay in business. Simply put, luthiers have a few tricks they use to make the necks stiffer and often stronger witness points at the neck (and sometimes bridge).

+1. I paid $1700 for my M5-24 and it has the best B string. What do I mean? Before this bass, I owned a Lakland 55-94 deluxe, and before that a Modulus Quantum 5. Both of which are famous for their amazing B strings. However, I found the Modulus B string was so huge, It overwhelmed the rest of the bass. The lakkie was awesome, except I couldn't get used to 35'' scale. When I played the m5-24 at Corner Music in nashville, I immediately fell in love with the tone, and the feel of the neck, and b string is perfect. Taught and punchy, but not overpowering, very musical in my opinion.
