I have this 70's era "lawsuit" Tokai Hardpuncher which is the best P-bass I've ever owned! I play it all the time. It's a typical sunburst, Jamerson-looking P, and I bought it for around $300 a few years back. A great bass!
Hells yeah. I had a Tokai that looked exactly like that which I bought in the early 80s for $70 in a pawn shop in Oklahoma.
I started gigging with it immediately and it paid for itself twice over the very first night.
I've owned several Fenders of various vintages over the years, plus a lot of knock-offs, and I really think that Tokai was the best P-bass I ever played. Certainly the best I ever owned. It saw hundreds of gigs, quite a bit of recording duties, and lots of abuse.
I never had to do anything to it except wipe it down after a show and change strings now and then. I hardly ever even needed to tune it.
I was a fool to part with it. I had it for around 12 or more years before I sold it. Sounded and played top notch.
