This is my favorite combo--I wish I still had it!

I like the white pickup covers. I think those would look good with a white pickguard.

Personally, I don't really like tort pickguards.

But I do really like the white pickup covers!

Don't forget, there is more than looks to these...maple and rosewood have a different sound.

I know, but I like the sound of a maple fingerboard as much as the sound of a rosewood one.

Since we're also talking about fingerboards, does anyone know the sound difference between a one piece maple neck and maple neck with maple fingerboard?

Out of those choices I picked black and black with rosewood. But best P bass to me is BC Rich warlock or eagle with full electronics pkg or at least 2band active eq and neck and bridge sets of P pups. Fave colors for these are all black, or see thru red with black hardware, & see thru natural with black hardware. For single P pup itd be BC Rich eagle or warlock with 2band active eq added.

But if fender P's itd be one of the newer ones with bigger frets, slimmer neck, and the other little improvements theyve made over the earlier versions. In black with black pickgaurd and black hardware, and 2band active added to replace the passive tone control. Lol.

Of those I like the black/black /rosewood. But black /tort/rosewood is my very favorite.

As a quick aside, I settled for the best of both worlds - the J neck, the P body, and the pick-ups for both - the Fender Deluxe P-Bass Special (pic in avatar). I went with the Blizzard Pearl/Gold Annodized combo with maple neck, soooo sexy.

However, I have always liked black on black with maple....

teh white guard looks classy as well....kind of like a tuxedo look...

Yes, and paint the headstock black, and get black hardware and black strings.

Why not just get a Roger Waters P Bass if you were going to do that?

I went sb/ts/rw with my new Precision, but all it would have took was a b/b/rw hanging on the wall and I could have been easily swayed. I think b/ts/rw is very nice too.

Maple boards and white pickguards do absolutely nothing for me...
