the Billy Sheehan that i know

I've met him a couple times, super-super nice, and seems that way by all accounts. That being said, everyone has bad days and periods in their life. Maybe it was in the first implosion of Mr. Big - Billy wasn't on his best behavior in those days.

long story - infamous video where he's being blatantly uncooperative -

The only thing I can conclude is that the hate is spawned from envy.

This is gratuitously reductionist and patronizing. If it was envy and not a personal take on someone's personality and demeanor, Sheehan, Berlin and Kaye "haters" would resent and hate everyone that they view as better or more successful than they. This is clearly not the case. One could easily argue the otherwise; that it's not necessary to feel admiration for someone just because they're able and successful.

I said this last week: We're allowed to not like things (and people). A war of anecdotes and logical fallacies proves nothing about anything.

One other thing that makes people enviously hate Sheehan is his unorthodox style. They're put off very badly by the fact that he's not a traditional player & still "made it".
Open a thread on here about playing chords & pinch harmonics with a poll on how accepted it is & you can already guess the majority vote.

This is why earlier I posted that most players could get by at their gig with an u-bass, because it suits their playing style.

I don't get Victor Wooten, but I'm going to go into threads about him to slag him off.

This tells me all I need to know. Regardless of what really went down between him and Sheehan, you (as a professional) don't do this. You simply don't.

Honestly, I've seen this happen with a lot of tour managers.

Most of the one's I've ever spoken to seem to want to vent angry stories about the people they've worked with. I think it has a lot to do with attention. People seem to want to gather around and listen to the "dirt" rather than stories about niceties.

Here's what gets me about the "You're just jealous because they made it and you didn't" argument. I keep voicing the opinion that Gene Simmons, Nikki Sixx, and Kurt Cobain are/were hacks (yes I blaspheme St. Cobain) and hear "You're just jealous because they make more money than you." Well by that logic since I work as an in home caregiver for $13 an hour if that was the case I would only listen to homeless street musicians.

have met him 3 times through the years.......always nice and hospitable
but there is this...
I appreciate his forthrightness about his positive experiences as a member of a dangerous cult. His beliefs don't make him a bad person...

I met him back when he was on tour with the Yngwie leg of the G3 tour. He was very gracious and outgoing.

I've met him several times over the years and he's always been a cheery, genuine soul that is always engaged and interested in sharing information. I've never once heard him talk about his 'religion'. I actually got a warning here some years ago posting about that connection. It's always all about the music with him.
