THE BONGO CLUB (Part 2, 3 and infinity)

This is my Bongo. I seriously love this bass.

Not sure of the year...all I know is that it took forever to de-gunk the neck. It probably was never wiped down by the previous owner. After a thorough cleaning the Rolls Burgundy looks amazing. A hard color to photograph. I considered trading it away for something else. But, the more time I spend playing it the more I'm beginning to love it. Thanks to @Fretless370 for the amazing opportunity to buy it off of him. He didn't gunk it up.

I find the dual humbucker (HH) Bongos to be sonically perfect IMO. I have no real experience with the other pickup configurations. But, I just nabbed a Stingray with an added reversed P pickup close to the normal P location. Has anyone mod’d a Bongo pickup config?

The Bongo is such a great bass. I agree that it's versatility would likely make any new string sound great, but, I found the Cobalt, rounds at least, to sound exceptionally good. Then after a fortnight they seem to have died, and become dull. I can't afford that sort of maintenance. A shame really.

I've liked roundwound Cobalts on StingRays, especially my rosewood fingerboard StingRay, but I’ve found them to be to bright on my Bongo — they ping when fretted. No problems for me with the longevity of Cobalts.
