I ran into this same issue. I went with a Schroeder 1210L and 1212L b/c of a back injury and I could move these myself. However, 2 is crazy loud but not enough low end underneath the band (great cabs which are light/small and loud). I ended up buying an Epifani PS410 which I need someone to help me move it. Still, it fills the stage for me. I've been very curious to try out some type of single 15' that I could go modular with for a lighter rig that still had the lows.

I've been away for a while so just now reading your question.
Also, this thread is a year old, so some things have changed in the interim. I'll address your last question first, though...

If you're thinking of loading the 2x15 cab, you should use a 3015 instead of 3015LF. The LF model is designed for use with a mid/high driver since the high frequency response is much more limited. That's why some of us have substituted the LF in the LS1503 (it's a three-way design).
BTW, there's no guarantee the 3015 will sound good in your particular cab design unless the driver parameters are similar.

As to your first question; I started having crossover problems shortly after getting my LS1503, which resulted in distortion, rattles, and other sonic anomalies. These were well documented in the "Boutique Three-Way(etc)" thread, starting around November or December '07. I have since been using other cabs on my gigs.

I maintain my initial impression of the LS1503 though,(before the crossover problems) and believe the model to be one of the best sounding cabs I've used. My intentions have been (and still are) to have the crossover rebuilt to a two-way, eliminating the HF horn. The 6.5" driver will provide all the highs I need.

Alright, I heard this- I do have an Avatar 210 Neo I want to use for the mids / highs. I'm going to make a small box with the appropriate value caps' I want to use in-line from the head to the Avatar, which will act as a passive x-over; keeping the lows (350 and below) out of the Avatar.

I thought the full-range signal would go to the 2x15 with LFs. But maybe I should just use a x-over for both, keeping the mids / highs out of the 2x15? Then I avoid sending useless signal to the 215 LF-loaded cab, which'll be an efficiency idea and keep less heat building up in the LFs... if the LFs will work with the 215, that is...

I think for most users the only reason to use a 2x15" over a single 15" with 3015LF is if you don't have much amp power and have a good reason to stick with that amp, like it's some old tube amp full of tone. If you need two 3015LFs then you need to have serious words with your guitarist and drummer or get a proper PA!

For my own part, I'm thinking of reggae as well as other styles. Maybe it's overkill, but I tend that way! Might be that I don't need the LF driver, but I need something to replace these stock Fender speakers with to run the 300T through it (which I'm now keeping, by the way. See the post "I Can't Do It"...).

Not arguing, but Bill Fitzmaurice's Omni 15 uses a 3015 LF in the specs, and ecidently you can get away with a very "mid-powered" head to power that cab. However I will probably incline to your advice here. I think a more full-range speaker will be fine. Thanks.
