Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Canabass!
This is a little project that I knew I wanted to do ever since I bought my 60's Classic Vibe Squier. The radioactive Squier logo was driving me nuts so I sanded and refinished the headstock and put the custom 'Canabass' logo on. I replaced the neck plate with a custom 'The Cannabass' plate and then ordered a custom pickguard from greasy groove (a bunch of great guys from the east coast).
The original body was the vintage white basswood. I had it out one day while the neck was detached and the darn thing ended up falling off the table onto the concrete floor. This resulted in a huge chip in the finish and a dented bottom. Not liking the contrast of the pickguard with the vintage white anyway, I ordered a MIM chrome red body of the 'bay and got it within a week. I like the look of the chrome red a bit better and I think the alder body gives a bit more balanced sound than did the basswood. I do have to rave about the sound of this bass as it sounded just as good as the MIA's in the store while I was trying it out. Now perhaps even better sounding with the alder body.
I can't wait to pull this thing out for gigs, and especially Canada day in July. Overall I think I have a fantastic sounding, one of a kind bass!
