The cantaloupe appreciation thread !

I absolutely love cantelope. The best is when it's made into a juice. You have to be carefull not to drink too much and make yourself sick. Also, a friend of mine who is a whiz in the kitchen, uses cantelope to make a sort of dressing for salads and stuff. I've begged her for the recipie, but she won't give it up.:crying: She won't even let me watch her cook it up. It it quite possibly one of the best things EVER!:hyper:

Count me in for that fruity club of yours.:D

I made lunch for a friend the other day and for desert I took a cantaloupe, cut it in half, scooped out the centers, and turned them into bowls. I then proceeded to fill the cantaloupe bowls with lots of other fruit (apple slices, tangerine wedges, blueberries, banana slices). It was quite delicious and a beautiful presentation. Needless to say, she was impressed.

You can have other people around... but you shouldn't eat melons in general in combination with any other food. This way, it gets assimilated properly and doesn't ferment in your stomach. Generally, melon only takes from 30-60 minutes to exit the stomach to the small intestine.

Empty stomach really means empty. I like to eat a whole one first thing in the morning, sometimes I'll puree, then strain, then eat the seeds since there's a lot of good-quality fat in them, but that takes longer to digest.

Sometimes my melon is my true breakfast (get it? breaking-your-fast?) then an hour or so after have the bigger post-breakfast meal.
