Chunky neck club? Perhaps a great idea. Maybe I should start handing out numbers. Only one rule for it: Gotta post a picture. Therefore, I can't be #1.

Fretless P neck. The epoxy makes this neck considerably thicker.

Some might say my necks are chunky. I say they're not chunky enough.

I have a number already. I also have an old 1960's Japanese
made Kingston. It has a huge neck. Just for fun, I took some
photos of it next to a Washburn T14 which has a P bass sized
neck,

Sorry Mp40smg,

I didn't realize your post was directed toward me until now.

That was not a conscious choice. That is a hand made bass
I got real cheap because it had a ski ramp beginning at the
body. By the time I got the ramp ground down, the lower
dots were gone and I did not have enough room to re-cut
the fret grooves. So, it's my favorite fretless,

I have a dream...

A dream of a neck so chunky, so huge, that when I wrap my hand around it, the chunkiness becomes uncomfortable. And at that point, I say: "DAMN, that's chunky!" But then I endure through the beautiful chunkiness that overfills my hand, and we become one, laying down the funk like it's going out of style. I haven't yet even looked at the neck, but then I do. I look down, and it's a bound and blocked beauty. Narrow 1.5" spacing, and the deepest U any man's ever beheld. Well over 1".

Will it ever happen? I doubt it. But a man can dream.

Ooh. Count me in. My ESP Surveyor II, Spector NS-JH5, Rickenbacker 4003FL, and Fender P Elite II all have chunky necks, my hand starts to cramp up on a Jazz bass or even worse, any Ibanez, and I have dreams of a neck that starts out at 1" thick and grows to 1.625" at the 12th fret.

In my book, the nut width should be the same as the thickness at the 12th fret. I feel like less of an outcast now.

Mi hermano! It's not us who are strange, but the ones who choose thin necks over the beautiful chunkiness. If only such a neck were the norm, the world would be a much better place.

You're on the internet. You could an inches to millimeters converter to solve the problem if you can't wrap your mind around an inch. Really, conversions aren't hard.

1" = 2.54 cm
13/16" = 2.0637 cm
18/16" = 2.8575 cm

Contrary to what others may think, most Americans are able to handle inches and metrics.
