Can you explain why you feel this way. I only know of Glenn Hughes work on Deep Purple "Burn" and I think that that album is a very good showcase for his bass playing and singing.

This is completely subjective and prejudiced, of course!

"Burn" is the most disappointing album ever for me. After the excitement and glory of "Machine head" and "Made in Japan", Deep Purple switched to muscular dreariness. It was the start of muscle/sweat/big hair/grunting rock. I find it utterly uncool. Of course Coverdale also bears some responsibility, but as a bass player I tend to blame Hughes. After Roger Glover, he was shallow, dull, superficial and sheerly uninteresting.

Ha - Nostalgia!! I was really into "Machine Head" and "Made in Japan" - but after that, they really went downhill fast!!

But it's frightening how long ago that all is - it sunk in when I bought the 25th Anniverary edition CD of 'Machine Head'!!
