I bought "The Best Of The Cowsills The Millennium Collection" CD and the fold out has a picture of the group performing and in that image is a young man on the right who appears to be playing an electric bass guitar. And that is my question. The bass guitar in the picture that the young guy is holding is proving difficult for me to identify. The pick guard is confusing me. Can anyone here zoom in and identify the make & model of this bass guitar?

The Cowsills unusual bass guitar

Yeah I think the angle put a shadow over the bass somewhat. The area where the control plate is looks black. But I think it's a Jazz.
All the older images I find show him (Barry Cowsill) playing a Jazz bass. Either that one or a white one.
Nice bass line here...even though Barry's bass is recorded and he's playing keyboards.

They are still touring and sound great live. They go out every year on the Happy Together package tour.

Did the Cowsills actually play their instruments or where they just props ala The Partridge Family?
Jeez I am kinda old and I never heard of these kids. Anyway, agreed looks like a Jazz with that big ashtray over the bridge.

Like the Osmunds, they were all musicians. They were actually the reason for the show, but the Cowsills were not interesting or good enough looking for the producers.
That's cool that they're still touring. I remember seeing them on TV, but wasn't into them at the time. I do like this song - I didn't realize it was the Cowsills's song while I was laughing at "Dumb & Dumber".
Judging by the PG, pickup and bridge covers, it's Fender Jazz...

I wonder if they ever played Branson, Missouri. They could play at Jimmy Osmund's theater and do a double bill.
No, they did and do play instruments. Partridge Family was based on The Cowsills
Susan plays locally and lives on the West Bank of New Orleans (Algiers).
I used to go to Newport RI frequently on dive trips, and saw the Cowsills there at a "Taste of Rhode Island" festival in 2000, when they were adults. Barry was playing guitar, not bass. I dont know who the bass player was but looked like he was playing a Dano. Their dad was a Navy recruiter and Barry and his brother started singing in the 60s in Ohio. It grew from there. They were playing at a hotel in Newport as teens when they were noticed by a Today Show executive, and kind of rocketed after that. Apparently Bud (dad) was stationed at Newport at that point, and I guess they later after they were famous they used their wealth to buy some pretty nice homes there. There is also a street there named after them. I read that Barry died in New Orleans during Katrina.
