His teacher said that technically and musically he's ready for COYO, but he's playing a 1/4 size bass and he'd end up being the mascot of the section.

We occasionally get a young cello or violinist but, yeah size is more important in the bass section. Good to know that Cleveland has some talented future coyo bassists! Most students start in highschool but a couple of the bassists got in when they were in eigth grade. Never hurts to try anyways though, Mr Feddeck and Mr Atherton are both very helpful musicians and I find it nice to get some feedback from them.
