Tell me about the fingerboard.
Under hand, the bloodwood board seems harder, less porous, more dense than Rosewood, more or less Rosewood with a step towards Ebony. It's a nice feel. I play with a pretty light touch though so maple, ebony, rosewood ? I couldn't care if it intonates
The reddish tint is a nice look on that bass though.
Hey Mal, cool project you got going there. Was the original neck already missing? Does the Dirnt come with a P 'C' neck? I figured it'd have something narrower/skinnier, more like a J. And how are you liking the Warmoth neck? What kind of profile does it have? Any neck dive?
Yeah - I traded a Strat for the neck a while back with no particular plan. The body came up a few weeks back and so... I've always dug the look of the 51/54 body but the necks were deal breaker - I've swung Louisville's that felt bette to me ...
This neck has a nice slightly chunky J feel - It had some serious neck dive when first assembled - so the plate style tuners went in favor of the Ultralites. Now it stays put.
The warmoth neck is going to take a little work for me. I need to dress the fret ends a bit, roll the fingerboard edge to get it that broken in feel. Currently it has a new feel that does not turn me on. I know how to fix that though. All it takes is time ...
You already know Pete's work and this pickup is built to my standard spec. So it has that warm but punchy blend I go for.
When the TI's settle in, I'll lay down a sample track with it.
My understanding is that Dirnt likes big, stout Tele bass stryle necks. So the original is a neck I would probably not have liked much at all.
