Double Bass The Double Bass Room in Kent, UK -- any experience?

Greetings -- Have any Talkbassers been to or ordered from The Double Bass Room in Kent, UK? Website: Invalid Link Removed

Wondering if anyone has anything to say good, bad, or otherwise. Appears to be a neat little shop but I can't find any reviews, testimonials, etc. about it anywhere.

Thanks!

I think the jury is still out. But I recently saw a guy who was considering buying an old ply, needed the fingerboard planing, and it had the sweetest sound, particularly in the upper registers. And a fellow bass player applied his bow and declared it amazing for a ply. At approx £1k.

So there are probably some reasonably priced gems, but I’d say a visit is essential.

I’m the guy who bought that Hungarian ply, and I couldn’t recommend Ben and The double bass room highly enough. I just picked up the bass after Ben got his luthier to reshoot the fingerboard and give it a new endpin. It looks and sounds beautiful, and it’s a pleasure to play - a lot of bass for a grand.

I’d suggest giving Ben a call and seeing what he’s got in your price range. More than likely there’ll be something to suit. I spent months trawling ebay and gumtree, and I needn’t have bothered. Good luck, and let us know how you get on!
