Double Bass The Elusive Nut Buzz

If you have a nut buzz and the groove looks OK, check if the string bends back towards the pegbox. It is very important that that this starts immediately where the vibrating part of the string gets in contact with the nut or the string might lift off the nut and bang onto the nut generating the buzz.
The bend string under tension over the nut acts like a clamp to hold the string in contact with the nut. If the groove is in parallel with the string there is not enough force holding the string down in that part.
Maybe that can help one or the other player to identify and/or to get rid of a nut buzz. Of course this can only happen with open strings.
