Double Bass The fancy side of TB?

I can't help but notice that the OT section for DB seems to be, fancier, than it's BG counterpart. Is this just me?

The instrument takes more dedication to play and more money to own.
Anyone can buy a 100 buck bass, a practice amp, least the 3 spots to a simple song and call himself a bassist.

While I don't yet own one (I'm seventeen, don't really have the funds to invest) I agree it took WAY more effort to learn than the bass guitar. Double Bassist seem to have more discipline than the Guitarists. I do own a bass guitar (that I built), I've had a hard time switching, mainly because I can't find any true technique that's universal to the instrument. It's all "Play it how you like it", And while that is nice and all, It doesn't help much. I've resorted to playing my Bass Guitar like a cello (I designed it in a way where this is comfortable)

Pro -tip : BG technique on DB and DB Technique on BG both make you sound foolish.

Somehow I don't see many gigging bassists with either $100 basses or just practice amps, and the level of music is not dependent on the instrument. Seems like some people here seem to have a rather high opinion of their doghouse.
