The Fender Bassman 100T thread

Can't get a Fender Pro Neo 115 Neo cab down here to go with the 100T for small gigs, so have ordered a GK Neo 115iii which is pretty close to the width of the Bassman so should fit together nicely. Figured I would make a new grill for it with Fender grill cloth and no-one will know the difference - visually anyway.

hi tim, spending so much on a "see me out amp"i wanna get it right , anyway i checked out music machines site, thanks for the offer of your good name re. " a good deal", but im up in muriwai so too far away . my local music planet store are good discounters and say direct imports will have both heads here at the end of april. Surprised they have the matching 810 and 610 cabs but no 410 available. doesnt matter as im leaning towards the 300 with a 810 anyway, tryin to convince myself that a, its gonna handle the power best, b, it takes up the same stage foot print as any smaller cab, c, i find the 810 handle a nice height to wheel it along at, and finally the 810 tips and slides into the back of a station wagon better.the only negative is wheeling it into some small room gigs and feeling your over gunned, still id rather have the head room for cleanliness sake.
these amps dont have switchable ac voltages do they? chris

No user switchable ac voltage, must be an internal tap on the transformer. My only reservation on the 300 is the weight - it is almost as much as my svt and for me a major plus of the 100T is its much lighter weight.
I was not totally convinced by the Fender cabs I played through, although to be fair it could have been the room acoustics. When I bought the head home and played it through my Bargantino NV cabs they seemed to handle it more cleanly - but then I am a Bergantino convert from way back :).

I played through both the neo 610 and 810 in the shop. Don't get me wrong, they are good cabs and certainly look sweet with a Bassman sitting on top of them. I just got the feeling that the Bergs handled the power a tad better, but I may be wrong as it was two different acoustic environments. Plus the Bergs are sealed cabinets, unlike the Fenders, and I have always found that tube amps and sealed cabs are my preferred match (like the SVT and 810 cab). It is also possible that the Fenders went deeper, being ported, but I have not been able to compare the two side by side. I would really need to gig the Fender cabs in a live situation to make an informed judgement on them - in the end it is your ears that will decide for you.
I know exactly what you mean about the matched silver cloth thing, they lok great together but ultimately it is the sound that comes first for me. Certainly the cabs sound very impressive in the videos that Fender have put up.

First loud show (post metal) this past friday. Sound guy LOVED the DI and its tubey'ness. I had it at 25 watts with the main volume at 6 and it was loud and glorious onstage.

A lot of other musicians were asking about the amp after the show which is always a good sign.

Overall I was extremely happy :-) Would be sweet if they came out with this amp in a 25 watt model to make it even smaller/lighter :-)
