The Fender/Squier Bullet Bass Thread

Well I took a crack at making a full pickguard for my Squier Bullet. Made a cardstock template and then painstakingly cut it out of single ply material with a Dremel. Lots of filing and sanding and test fits to get it right! Dust everywhere and took all afternoon. Still have some contouring to do but overall pleased so far. This bass has quickly become my #1.
I know it could be converted back to the Mustang bass pickups but honestly these old Dimarzio’s sound so good that I don’t want to change things at all.

Picked this up in trade here recently, was looking for a birth year bass, and the Fenders are getting a bit out of my price range.
Vantage is one of those brands that get slept on, but they're classic matsumoku
I like the way this bass plays but the sound isn't there, might have to try this out.
An update on my 83 SQ. Hand shaped a new pickguard (took a long time!) and changed the pickups to Gotoh classic P and covers to cream. Took a pic of the neck heel date - a very early MIJ model. Feels great. Sounds great.
I could put in a set of Mustang pickups someday but the P’s sound quite good. Would have to get a new guard too. Maybe a rainy day project down the road.

Fantastic. Is that the original color? Mocha brown with maple is so very 70s, I love it.

Yes I had read that too. The story from the seller was his luthier told him it was a Japan Bullet with a US body. It does have a very early SQ serial number so not sure if some of the USA bodies/parts made their way to Japan as production started? Neck is dated Aug 83. The neck pocket has no sigh of a refin. Plus I would seriously question anyone who would choose brown as a refin color
The green one and the Sunburst one have Squier Paranormal Jazz bass necks with the headstock ground down,and Fender Hi mass bridges. The green one has nordstrand NM4 pickups and sound amazing.Sunburst has Custom shop pickups. The Cream ,Blue and Brown ones are un-modded ,the brown one has been in storage since 1983 and is immaculate condition.

The blue one you mentioned was unmodded but that is not an original finish so I assume it was refinished at some point.
