It's definitely a 34" scale, but it is clear that there never was a "deluxe" decal as the decals are under the finish(Poly, ?) so if anyone has any info on why the non delux would have a 34" scale neck??? It was pretty abused when I got it, I made the pickguard myself.

we picked up a super made in the USA Fender Bullet Deluxe. I have never seen one with out the shields

Hello, I think my Squier Bullet bass (tele headstock, slab body, mustang pickup) needs a new tuner. Here is what’s happening. When I turn the key to tune up, I feel some resistance and “notchy-ness” for a lack of better terms. The teeth of the gear look fine. I tried to adjust the screw on the back thinking that maybe it was loose and noticed that the gear would move up and down as if there was no bushing. It will hold its tuning for now, but I don’t see it staying that way.
It looks like the mounting plate is a smaller than standard size, does anyone have recommendations on replacement tuners? I would like to stay with a clover style.

Just picked up this Squier Bullet! It’s an SQ serial number so I believe that puts it at 83-84. I put some GHS Balanced Nickels on it (pictured) and they sounded okay, but very bright and kinda thin. So put some D’Addario Nylon Tapewounds on it and it’s much more in line with what I’m looking for, tonally. Much fatter and rounder sounding.
I was having an issue adjusting the pickup for good string balance. The E and G strings seems more loud and full sounding and A and D seemed more dull and thin. After playing with the pickup height I’m a lot closer, but it’s still not great. And when I bend the A or D strings a little bit it gets much louder, so I’m thinking the pole pieces aren’t lined up under the strings and that’s why some strings sound less full than others.
Sooooo I went ahead and bought the Nordstrand pickup in the vintage spacing. I’ll report back!

I'd like to start with a question to the Squier Bullet owners: If I understood it right the Japan models have a smaller body, like the US short scale models, but a 34" scale neck. Are there any problems with neck diving? Thanks!

Hi Dirk, as far as I know: the Squier Bullet Basses are size wise similar to the US made B34 long scale Bullets, but have a bigger pickguard, which fits the shape of the body better. The US long scale Bullet models used the pickguard from the B-30 short scales, which was too small and therefore "off".

I am pretty sure that the Squier bodies are slightly smaller in size when compared to a USA 34" scale Bullet. I owned them both at the same time. Either way I never had any headstock dive on them that I can remember.
Hope y’all don’t mind me posting a pic of my “Bronco B30”. Always liked the Tele headstock since my first real bass was a 72 Tele Bass. Also had a 70’s Musicmaster bass that weighed a ton. This one is nice and light. Kent Armstrong lipstick gives it a nice mellow sound. Cheers!

Dropped the Nordstrand in a few days ago and am loving the improvement!
I don't think there are any lightweight tuners that are drop in. Hipshot makes some that I "think" are a direct replacement but I doubt they are a whole lot lighter. Maybe a touch. Gotoh resolites swap for USA vintage tuners but the Squier are different. You would have to mod a bit to go to an ultralite hipshot.

That’s kind of what I suspected. I don’t really care about the screw holes lining up since I’ll probably keep this bass for a while. But I don’t want to ream the actual post holes out or anything like that. Maybe I’ll just drop Hipshot an email and see what they say.
i installed g&l lightweight tuners in my usa b30 with no issues. i've no idea if they would work in squier bullets, sorry.
Well now I can officially add my very own Squier Bullet bass to this thread. Picked it up just a few weeks ago. The bass was modded a long time ago and has a huge pickup route under the cover. A very old Dimarzio dual rail split P pickup is installed and actually sounds great. The neck is perfect. I’m guessing this is the mocha/walnut finish as it seems all original. I kind of like that this thing is a road warrior and could probably tell some stories. Very low SQ00xxx serial number on the neck plate (not sure the numbers were issued in any order or not).
Someday this might have to get a Tbird or Bisonic pickup installed but really it sounds so good as-is that I don’t even want to muck with it so I’ll leave it alone - I actually dig how it looks anyway. Cheers, Chris
