at various times in the past i have tried to look up info on my bullet bass by the serial number, but the sites that i found apparently all had info on Squier serial numbers for six string guitars, not basses. glad to find this thread that actually mentions serial numbers that start with "SQ" like mine. I got my bullet bass used from a guitar shop in 1984, right after graduating high school. the date on the neck is 1983. this was my first bass, and i didn't know anything about guitars back then. i think the original owner sold this bass because its neck wasn't quite right. it still isn't quite right. i can tighten the truss rod as far as anyone would dare to try, and it still has too much relief. action is just too high. every once in a while i think about getting a replacement neck for it, but at this point i have half a dozen other basses lying around, so i don't really need to play it, although it would be cool to take it out on a gig once in a while. i usually decide to just keep it as-is, the way it was when i first started playing - unless anyone has a spare neck they want to sell

if the neck has a twist or an unadjustable bow, that is an issue. if, however, the neck is okay-ish, then there might be an issue with the neck pocket (or even the neck heel). if so, a proper shim can help quite a bit. here's a shim I've used with great results: StewMac Neck Shims for Guitar - StewMac

Just got this 84 squier 34” scale with a crazy paint job and an old (assuming 70s) fender wide range in the neck.

81 Bullet Deluxe USA. Now has an Allparts neck as the original has a twist and W shaped bow in it. I have had it since about 1989.

Looks like possibly B30 might be different? Would love to see if someone who may know John page could get him to clear up alot. Like the differences on the Squires how the LG changed to be more proportioned etc.

I believe the USA line came in a walnut color like that but I don't remember ever seeing a Squier in that color. I think they were black, red, and sunburst only.
