The Fender Super Bassman 300 thread

Haha you guys are funny the volumes are like that for when I need to be super quiet, parents sleeping etc. etc.

For gigs my master is normally around 5 and then the other channels unity. I also plug in to input 1. I play in a 3-piece (ala Rush) so don't have to battle to cut through or be heard.

What y'all think of the settings, if you tried them? I'm digging them for my needs atm.

hey guys so i'm freaking out. I just put about 5 hours of play time on the amp at the exact setting from the pic i posted a few comments before. I turned off the amp, leaving it on standby to cool down. I was still noodling about 10 minutes later and decided I wanted to play with my fx, so I turned the power back on...and nothing happened. red LED on the front didnt light up, but i can hear that there is still power going to the amp, cause there is a very faint buzz if you stick your head in the back, and the tubes are still dimly lit. When turning off the power again i hear almost like a tinkering sound out of the back....what just happened?!

Dunno for sure. ......
I'd leave it off for a minute or two then turn it on in the usual proper way. See if it happens again. If so it Could be a pre amp tube. V1 maybe? ??
It's Always handy to have a 12AX7 or two spare and on hand for times like this.
If think it'd be something like this.

Edit. I just re read yr post. ... The front red 'power' light, or jewel light not coming on is puzzling- for me at least. I'm far from knowledgeable in electrical matters.

Yea I tried it again to no avail. I have a feeling maybe it's the fuse? Which means something else is probably wrong? Ugh

And I should clear up what i said eaearlier. I put the amp on standby for 10min, then took it off standby.

Regardless, I just talked to a tech local to me and he essentially reiterated my suspicions on the fuse. Most likely not a circuit board issue(fingers crossed). Maybe a capacitor? Just wish I knew how to recognize a bad capacitor etc. I'll pprobably be spending at least $100 to have it looked at.

This^ Fender has authorized repair facilities. Their 5 year warranty is transferable if the original buyer signs over his receipt to the 2nd buyer. That was my case. I did not spend a penny to get mine repaired, even though I was the second owner. (except for gas to get it there, 30 miles from home). Great warranty. If you bought it recently from a dealer you might convince them to swap you a new one.
