The Few, the Proud, the Cowpokes. (official Fender Cowpoke club)

I have Cowpoke fever. I don't need one, but I've wanted one since the first time I laid eyes on one. When I have the cash in hand, I can't find one. When I stumble upon one one, I don't have cash. (Don't you hate when that happens?) Eventually I expect that the stars will line up and I'll get to join this club.

I feel your pain. One look at my other basses and you can tell that a cowpoke is in my future. My problem is the same, can't find one when I have the money, and when I don't, there's a dozen of them!!

And that Moon copy in blue turquoise is just gorgeous.

I sense a build in my future.

Here's my cowpoke. 2nd from the left. next to my handmade bass. :P

bought mine in a pawn shop in indiana for like 260 with a case. first bass i bought myself.

these are my 5 basses. left to right: my handmade active no knobs p-bass, cowpoke, my new ESP B5-Jr short scale 5 string, danelectro longhorn remake, and my dad's old kramer jazz bass that he tore the frets out of, now the "jaco bass"

The first bass I ever owned was a Cowpoke, got it from someone for $150. I decided to trade it to a friend of mine for a Behringer stack and a Squier jazz bass because I didn't understand the active electronics (I was really new to bass, lol). I wish I could find another one for a reasonable price now that I know what I'm doing.

Just picked mine up today and stripped it down for mods. 1994 cowpoke, but I noticed no CNC hole under the pickguard, so I am guessing its an early one? Upgrading bridge, tuners, putting in Seymour Duncans and going passive as well as all black hardware. Will have some more photos up when it's completed.
Can I have a number please.

I'm supposed to be doing it... if you're 35 by your account by all means take that number. I'll go through the list and confirm. if anybody else would like to step up and become the person in charge of the group that would be great... I don't actually have a cowpoke currently!

OK I'll take #35 for now. If you find it's not right, let me know the right number. Thanks.

Hi there,

Great to see a lot of love for Cowpokes here. I picked mine up a week ago (a Christmas present to myself) and I am absolutely delighted. I got it from a seller on the UK based BassChat site (thanks Mojobass!) for £260 with a Brass nut and a Schaller bridge. It sounds superb - the active pick ups make it really sing. It's been stripped down to the wood and finished beautifully - no nasties lurking under the paintwork or sander gouges here! It's a unique and classy looking instrument. It came without a scratchplate, but I was able to locate one from this very forum from the lovely Dinkbass - thanks man!
I couldn't be happier with it and why thay aren't still in production baffles me.

It looks like this:
