this is the last detail i must decide before i call and officially place the order for my custom warwick...

the detail is pot placement and the number of pots.

i can't decide whether i should go with 4 or 5 (they are the same system, just 1 concentric pot). does 5 look too "busy"? i don't want the focus to be on the pots...(everything will be black hardware on marbled bubinga if it matters).

all in all, there will be 4 or 5 pots ( denoted by the O's) and 3 toggles (denoted by the X's). i have a couple of ideas but can't decide at all. also, you can open these through MS Paint and use the text box in the upper right hand side of your tools to move pieces around. it would be great to get some more ideas that way :)

thanks in advance, TB, for helping get some closure on this bothersome detail!

thanks for the quick reply erochelle77. everyone please keep scrolling as there are 5 options that i have drawn...if you have another idea by all means please post it, i greatly appreciate the help.

i named the thread this way because i am excited to order the bass and that song is a great inspiration song :)

I like four the best. Mostly because I think it's too busy with five knobs and three switches so close together. Four knobs following the contour of the body makes it better. I've got three ideas for the switches, iether move them str8 up just a little to seperate them from the knobs just for praticality purposes, move them up and center them just above the last stacked knob, or maybe even put them in a little arc semi circle shape centered above the stacked knob. Ah, you asked for ideas and this is all I got. :)

I actually like option 2 (that's what I use). It's not quite as pretty as 1, but it's more functional for me because the top 3 knobs are all volume(s) and the bottom 2 are tones of a sort.

neck vol/bridge vol/GK vol
passive tone/mid sweep

Aesthetically, I liked Option 1 the best, and that's what I voted. However, I thought about it again, and Option 2 was probably more functional. The three-in-line can be your 3-band EQ, and the other two can be V/V or V/Blend. Or two-band EQ with V/V/T. I don't think 5 knobs look too busy at all. Most F-basses have 6, for example.

Now, I understand this is a guitar not a bass, but the control layout has that special something you don't find very often...

yeah, i saw that thing in a pic and almost cut myself just thinking about it :) seriously, with all those parts, i expect that thing to be a guitar, fax machine, and coffee maker.

EDIT: let me clarify...by "cut myself" i mean to comment on how pointy the bass is, not that i am suicidal. :P
