I'm ashamed to say I haven't picked up the bass yet this year. But OP didn't specify bass. I was on vacation until the 30th, and I got a new geetar right before I left on xmas day. The first thing I played I think was a song I'm currently trying to finish up to start recording, and the reason I got the geetar. Cheap little epi special. It has P90s. I love P90s

So, as the title goes, which song, if you played already in this year, is the first you played?

It doesn't matter if on bass, or other instruments, just what song did the first notes you played form: I don't mean "play" as starting a CD track!

As for me, I was at a rock party with people from the Rockin'1000 event, a stage was set up with instruments and went on playing the setlist from the That's Live event. Most folks were outta drunk and I was clean as I had to drive but it was still fun. 3-4 guitars at a time and two basses made a mess but on stage it was all fine, lol.

The first song I played, on a (lent) modified Mark Hoppus P bass was Police On My Back by The Clash.

I think it was In The End Linkin Park. It was a preplanned first attempt as a 7 piece. A female on keys and a male vocalist from another band joined us. It was full and powerful.
