Looks like it's time for an "About" page at TalkBass with enough tenure now to launch the "History of TalkBass" blurb.

I've been here 9+ years. When did TB begin?

Before TB was "TB" in its current forum it used to exist as far back as 1998 / 99. The original incarnation was for DB bassists to discuss DB related issues but it grew to both BG and DB quickly. The original TB was lost and reincarnated as this form of TB in late 99 / early 2000 so the earliest uses have joing dates around that time but some of the older users actually joined in 98.

I believe the first thread was from Paul and it was entitled "Do a search n00b!".
