The only headphones that I've preferred to the EarPods are my Grados and they are completely impractical for daily use.

I do not own earbuds or any type of portable listening device...Do not even have a smartphone for that matter...

But I think the OP was just lamenting the fact that the technology of today is further fragmenting a society that has drifted apart and one of the contributing factors seems to be the lack of casual daily interaction that while not individually changing someone's life, cumulatively betters us as a whole. And I agree.

Ear buds are uncomfortable and gross.

Besides, sometimes people don't see them and they start talking to me anyway.

When they see head phones, they don't bother!!
